Your computer must be connected to a modem, to translate into a format that can travel to your local Broadband provider. Over telephone, cable or other types of lines. Your broadband provider has multiple high speed connections that connect it to the internet itself.
How the web works?
Basically, our web pages live on other computers called servers around the world, there are millions of them. When we type in a web site into our browser, It searches for the right server and comes back to us via little packets of codes, and our web browser translates these codes into words, photos, music, videos and links.
How email works ?
Every kind of email is converted to text, even if it has attachments. When you click the send button, the domain name is stripped off 'yahoo.com' and that email server is contacted. your email is added to the appropriate text file. When someone goes to check email, the email program copies the file and the server file is cleared.
How search engines work ?
A search engines identifies a word your searching and tries to link you to web pages that has the words shown. The top link would usually be the best place to get the resources your looking for. Usually there are too many results, so you can add a - plus the word to eliminate the word that has the same meaning to the word your after. for example Mullet can be a fish or a hairstyle. By being specific and using words and symbols that removes useless information you can find exactly what you need.
How newsgroups and forums work?
A newsgroup or forum is like an online community bulletin board. You can post, reply or just read messages. When you send a message, the news server posts it for everyone to read. Other people of the newsgroup or forum can now read and respond to your message.
How streaming media works?
When you click on a media video, your web browser requests the video from a media server on the internet. The server then responds and sends a continuous stream of data. Your computer then opens a media player, and the streaming data is stored in a buffer. Once enough data has been received , the video begins to play.
