Search engines

Search engines use a software called spiders, which go around the internet looking for documents and their Web address.
The documents and Web addresses are collected and sent to the search engine's indexing software.
The indexing software then takes info from the documents, storing it in a database.
When you then perform a search by entering keywords, the database searches for documents that match. The search engine then assembles a web page that lists the results in hypertext.
